We are delighted to announce that Dorothy Ufot SAN C.Arb FCIArb has been awarded the African Arbitrator of the year. Dorothy was presented with this prestigious award at the second annual Africa Arbitration Awards, hosted by the East Africa International Arbitration Conference (EAIAC) committee on the sidelines of EAIAC 2020.
Dorothy is a leading commercial law practitioner and Managing Partner at Dorothy Ufot & Co. She has spent several years being involved in complex commercial and investment disputes and has been part of high-profile arbitration technical cases both in Nigeria and international arbitration cases. She is also the first African arbitrator to be appointed to the executive board of arbitration of the International Bar Association (IBA). In 2006, Dorothy was the first Nigerian woman to be chosen to the International Court of Arbitration (ICC) of the International Chambers Commerce in Paris – where she remained for over 12 years. She currently belongs to several international arbitration institutional panels, such as the Singapore Arbitration Centre, Hong Kong Arbitration Centre, Dubai Arbitration Centre and many more.
