We are delighted to announce that Andrew Miller QC FCIArb (and a Trustee of CIArb) has been named Civil/Commercial Mediator of the Year at the prestigious National Mediation Awards (NMA) organised by the Civil Mediation Council. The awards are held every two years with this year’s award being held online.
Andrew has over 30 years of experience of dealing with and resolving commercial disputes both domestically and internationally. He practices as a mediator and arbitrator in a wide range of commercial sectors, including in the areas of construction, energy, property damage, insurance and reinsurance, professional negligence and general commercial disputes.
Andrew has been involved in domestic and international arbitrations including large value arbitrations of half a billion US$. His involvement in the mediation of disputes goes back to 1995. He has experience of over 150 mediations, both domestically and internationally, across a wide range of disputes.
Andrew has used his background as a successful QC commercial practitioner and his substantial experience of both arbitration and mediation to become a practical, efficient, approachable and user-friendly arbitrator and mediator. In mediation, Andrew favours and is a proponent for the active v passive mediation approach and Early Stage Mediation (ESM). Andrew writes and speaks regularly on mediation and in particular, the use of mediation in arbitration and on the ‘changing face of mediation’, which he is very much, a part of.
Andrew is also a Trustee of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
